Fucking BMW driver...

Almost got sideswiped for the second time this month, first time by a newer Malibu, this time, by an old lady in a black E90 335i...

I'm the blue line and she's the black line. I'm driving to work not even 40 minutes ago, and she decides she wants to merge all the way to the lane to my left which is an intersection turn lane. She's going the same speed I am and is right next to me, so she decides to merge right into me!

I veer into the middle intersection lane and she's still pushing me to the left, almost into the oncoming traffic lane! At which point, she then decides to use her blinkers as I'm slowing myself down, she gets in front of me and into her lane. At least it was a red light and there was no oncoming traffic...

And I'm just now realizing that in this whole incident, I didn't once look behind me before I had to veer to the left to see if anyone was to my left, I got lucky, again.

I'm starting to think there comes a point where people should just stop driving, what's that point, you may ask, when situational awareness is fucking nil!

Or is it just in the winter that situational awareness is just decreased to the point of not checking your sides and blind spots. I'm starting to understand why cars are coming with blind spot sensors now, so BMW cars can drive without trying to kill anyone!

Or maybe her tire pressure was too low and her tires were too cold for her to see me and give any fucks...

And I see this happening more and more now here, BMWs cutting people off, aggressively driving through traffic. It's starting to become a more noticeable occurrence to me now.

Would not see the same thing, they're on equal numbers here, Porsche and BMW, every Porsche I see being driven isn't driving aggressively at all, I saw a couple 996s, Panameras, and a 991 today, none of which were being asshats.

I can most certainly blame the car for making people think they're better drivers.

an E90 335i is just a simple RWD car with a good amount of power and a decent suspension

it's no different than many other cars that have been built over the years with this same formula

there is no way an engineer can stop people from thinking they are better drivers than they are or driving like dickheads

if you invent a way to do that then patent it cause you'll be a very rich man

It is possible, I'm seeing it and saw it today. 10 Porsches, 10 BMWs today.

I can because I saw it.

How can I blame the car? Go give a brand new driver a WRX with the AWD and because AWD, they become super best driver out in the world, like super WRC champion. And with all most Subies here, you see them blast through the snow as fast as possible passing everyone, then you see them in a ditch or off the road or stuck later on, because AWD makes you a better, saffer driver.

A BMW with all the traction systems, special sensors and what other special features they have, because they're there, they immediately make you a better driver than everyone else, and thereby give you permission to drive like an asshat.

This is what I hate about modern cars and drivers. You learn shit in driver's ed, you get a car with all the technology that doesn't help you, it "prevents" you from being stupid and doing stupid things on the road to an extent. If everyone was driving an old RWD 'Murican compact car with a big motor, I'd love to see them try driving like an asshat.

you must live in a super fancy part of the country because i'm in a fancy part of the country and there is never more porsches than bimmers. you can lease a 3 series for under $400 a month. so everyone gets them. even when you see lots of porsches there are still more bimmers

what you're describing makes zero sense

it has nothing to do with BMW. it's all to do with regulations

ALL cars have traction and stability control these days. and an E90 isn't as fancy as you think it is. it has nothing beyond these features. there are no special sensors that other modern cars don't also have. it's not like it has the same features that a 458 or 650S have to make you faster on track.

Where I live? Not really, but where I was which isn't far from my house, is a pretty affluent place, it's where most of the high-end sports cars and a few supercars can be found all the time in the summer.

All I'm saying is that modern cars make for stupid drivers it seems. I'm still pretty pissed about what happened.

And I've never had the luxury of spending time in any luxury vehicles, my FoST isthe most luxurious car I've ever had. My car has no sensors or cameras whatsoever.

I agree with you that modern cars make for stupid drivers. It's just not a BMW only thing. You don't need any driving skill to drive a 991 C4 PDK. But you need a lot of skill to drive an air cooled 911.

Also there is one thing I've been noticing about DCTs - they make drivers more aggressive. At least that's what happens to me.

The reason is because DCTs are really boring unless you are accelerating hard. With our good buddy Manuél I can have fun without accelerating that hard or going that high over the speed limit. But any car with a DCT puts me to sleep unless I'm driving it hard.

I could also have fun driving slow, because I like the car anyways.

Just like a modern Lambo, I could easily have fun driving it slow or moderately. Sure it's not fast, but it still is fun.

The blip farts are awesome!!!

But trust me - a PDK Cayman or 911 will make you want to drive fast all the time

The transmission is so fast and efficient that it rewards you when you mash the throttle. It's like there are little German gnomes in the transmission yelling "GO FASTER!". The DCT in my E90 isn't even as good as PDK but it's still German and still very good so it's a similar experience. When you're going slow a DCT just feels like a slushbox. But when you go fast it feels like a manual.
